Dear sister and family
It is with a sad heart I am writing to you Little Ruby is dead. She died on the 13.just a week ago she got got burnt caused her death. The boys had been burning some trash off the garden and Roy Lee went over to the fence and set some grass a fire a bout sundown we was all busy and I forgot them thinking it was out and come in and made out a list of grocers to send for and run to the gate to give to Wilbern when we saw her on fire oh her dress was in a blaze all over. I had to run to the garden to his and her little dress and under clothes was in a solid blaze I was so scared I just wrapped my skirt around ner and they got me a coat and put the fire out . She only lived 6 hours. I tell you that was an awful time Roy Lee and J.T. was the first to her. They burnt their hands pretty bad. I got both hands and my right wrist and one knee. They are getting better but set keep them tied up. But she never did complain of anything hurting her she talked and drank water and milk. We had Dr. Miller and Dr. Manand with her but they said no chance she inhaled the blaze.
It didn't burn her hair much it was her body. We asked her if anywhere hurt she said no and asked if she got burnt. And she said yes. It don't seem like she is dead. The children had been pulling boll all day and Lillis went over there in the eve with them and she stayed at the house and played all day and just went out and was on fire in such short a time It seems more like a dream than anything real. The people have showed me more kindness than every before . They made up a 81.00 enough to cover all expenses and such a crowd. They made the remarks that it was the largest funeral that had ever been, flowers the prettiest flowers and so many. The little grave was covered, I am sending you a little fiaea, and a piece of her dress there wasn't and of the ribbon left she had white kid slippers and stocking. Oh she looked so sweet with a little beauca in her little hands. Oh she has gone on with her papa and the rest of the loved ones. Lillis runs around so lonesome she will try to play and come back and stand a round and say I cant play with out Ruby makes it some much worse for me to her her talk and look so lonely for they did enjoy playing so good. I wish I could come out to see you and leave this place but I guess ot wouldn't help me any seems I have had so much sorrow here, but it will come anywhere. Sometimes it is all for the best I guess but it is hard to think that way sometimes she was so well and stout, ans soon.

Corda
