James Rogers (son of Rev.John" The Martyr" Rogers and Adrina DeWeyden) was born 1618, and died 1687. He married Elizebeth Rowland.

James Rogers-born in England, April 1635. At the age of 20, emigrated to New London, CT, on the Ship "Increase" ( Robert Lea, master). He brought to America the Bible of his grand father( John the Martyr). He cquired land at Stratford,CT, moved to Milford,CT. anf finally returned to New London( probably the place of his death). His wife, Elizabeth, was the daughter of Samuel Rowland of Stratfor, CT (she died in Stratford). According to The Abridged Compendium of American Genealogy, James was: A baker; a Rep. Gen. Ct. 6 times; in Pequot War in 1637; a founder of "Rogerenes;" a descendant of Humphrey deBohun, a surety for the Magna Carta; and, descendant of Walter Hungerford (Knight of the Garter) whose daughter, Elizabent, married Philip deCourtney (1404-1463) and became the g.g.g.parent of James.
