My father, Sylvan Phillip Russellwas one of three sons born to Esau Russell and Josephine Mullen. Esau's father was Charles Russell and his mother was Eliza (Wiley) Russell. Esau was a native of England and was born on January 24,1851. Esau was one of six children and in 1871 he came to the United States and operated a farm near Tiffin, in Johnson County, Iowa. In 1887, he came to Ida county. On Oct.2, 1883, Esau married Josephine Mullen, daughter of Washington and Isabel (Work) Mullen, who were natives of Pennsylvania. Esau and Josephine has three sons; Bowden, Carman, and Sylvan.
Sylvan Russell went north to Sundre, AB, Canada. He was married twice, the second to my grandmother, Ida (Waggoner)Russell and they had one son; Ross Phillip Russell. Ross married Annie Elizabeth Botham and on April 19, 1954, they had a daughter, Sylvia. I am Sylvia ... now Mrs. Sylvia Ann Russell-Parsons and I have two children, Douglas and Katlyn.
From research, I have found that Esau, Josephine,Bowden, and Carman are buried at Ida Grove, Iowa. Sylvan is buried in Olds, AB, Canada, and Ross is buried in Sundre, AB, Canada.
