For over 40 years I have spent bits of time on our history. For those of you who have been working on yours for many years, you realize that being online is a great way to expand your research, but it also has inherent problems. The "old way" was slower and limited by access and circumstances, but online information can be misleading and overwhelming.
Working mostly on the Rutherford line, because it had fewer road blocks and was therefore less frustrating, I have run into many Rutherfords who are searching different branches of our tree or are completely unrelated (from what we can tell now).
Trying to keep track of all the Rutherfords and their kin, keep them in perspective but yet somehow connected, I saw a need for a central clearing house just for us. There are literally hundreds of us looking at our family history.
Add the fact that many of us are also related to the early SMITH families, and you can see why we include an incredible number of searchers.
So... JOIN US ... Let's get organized and help each other. Let's find every possible link and legacy we share.
We are RUTHERFORD ... hear us roar ... (or at least click away in the night) Please log on to:

List yourself as a Rutherford Family Researcher. Include a list of the main surnames you are searching for and allow your email address to be listed there so others can find you.
Mine include: RUTHERFORD, GOLDBERG, LENZ or Von LENZ, LEMKE, BERNHARDT, DORPAT, ERICKSON, HECK and PIERCE. Other names that link up are LANGNER, BARNARD, JOHNSON, COOLEY, RIDDIOUGH, SMITH
