I descend from many people. The Rutledge's of Gwinnett County Georgia. My mother's people came from The Clark family of Tennessee, one of the First Families of Tennessee. My father's mother was a Maxwell. The Maxwell's of Elbert and Wilkes County Georgia. My mother's mother was a Martin. The Martins came from Habersham County Georgia. The other names in my Family Tree are Booth, Denton, DePriest, Duffee, Fitts, Haney, Maddox, Rawlins, Roberts, Royal, Welch and Worthy.
I stared my genealogy research in 1970. The foundation of my research on my father's family came from my grandparents. Franklin Joseph Rutledge and Bessie Lee Maxwell Rutledge. They gave me the names and locations to get me started on the journey to research my genealogy lines. It's been a great adventure.
My Tennessee cousins, Bill Turner, Evelyn Boyd Byars and Sara Agee Goins helped me with my Clark genealogy. Norris Clark came from County Downs Ireland. His son Charles Clark married Hannah Denton. Hannah descends from Richard Denton.
The Rutledge family has a reunion the first Sunday in October at Brisco Park, Snellville, Georgia.
The Clark family has a reunion the third Sunday in October in McMinnville, Tennessee.
I know that I will be researching my family lines for years to come. I dedicate all of this to my parents.
