As can be expected, most of our family history was obtained from relatives, who passed down the information. A vist to the Church of Latter Day Saints, in Westland, MI, proved to be exceptionally helpful. Ryan family records obtained from this source included, Stewarts Great Grandfathers marriage to Martha Griffin, at Marlette, MI., in November 22, 1882. The Ryans lived in several counties in Michigan, including Lapeer, Sanilac and Oakland. It was determined that Stewarts Greatgrandfather, Eugene, who married Martha as stated above, was born in Lapeer County in 1857. His father, Cornelius Ryan, was born in New York, about 1824. Cornelius's father was Edmund Ryan, born about 1827, at County Limerick, Ireland. His mother, Mary Real, also born about 1827, at Oola, County Limerick, Ireland. It is at this point I hope to follow the line further back, as more information is obtained.
