I am searching for Merkel lineage and have traced the immediate family back to Odessa, Russia which they immigrated from to New York in September of 1898. The furthest back I have been able to trace the lineage is to Jakob Merkel(born June 1851) and wife Magdalena Metzgher(born September 1853) and Gottlieb Huber (born October 1872) and wife Margaret (unknowen) (born April 1874).
Any further help would really be welcome.
