Jonathan Ryner served during the American Civil War, he was a Private(?) in Company B, of the 76th Pennsylvania Volunteer Riflemen. He is my Great, Great Grandfather. As of the 1880 census, he moved Westward and settled in Clinton County, Iowa, and became a farmer. He married a lady named Philena/Philina/Philona Ames. They bore five sons and a daughter, John H., Armenas, Spencer, E.Delbert, James and Lorena. I believe I am descended from E.Delbert, and from him, my Grandfather Delbert, and thence my father Dale A. Ryner. As of May17,2003, my knowledge of my family extended to my Grandfather (whom I, unfortunately had never met), and dead-ended with him. Recently (9/24/04), I tried going down a different path, looking up info about his wife Philena/Philina/Philona. There was no last name listed for her, only the birthplaces of HER parents, her birthdate, and marriage date. I finally found a very likely person listed on rootsweb, her name, dates of birth, marriage and location of her parents birthplaces lined up perfectly, her last name was Ames. If anyone has any pieces to put with this, please contact me, jdryner@yahoo.com. Thank you!
