About Our Family Research

What I do know:
To my knowledge all of my people and the people on my wife's side lived in a small village in southern Italy called Grimaldi.
The village was founded and named for a man from Genoa. There is a possibility that a group of people from the Genoa area migrated
into southern Italy around the year 350, and remained in that area to this day. It has been noted that a young girl named Catherine Saccomanno was attacted by a band of brigands in the year 1034.

What gives credence to this concept is that when the Roman empire fell groups of peoples migrated to other areas to escape
the incoming barbarian horde. The city of Venice was built by Romans who fled to the those islands for protection.
