*** My main interest has been the family tree of the American Saffords who have descended from Thomas Safford, the original immigrant ancestor who came from England to America about 1638. I love to put the puzzle together of all the people in this gigantic family tree! And I love to pass on the information to anyone else who would find it useful.
*** My husband and I have 3 daughters and 2 sons, all terrific kids who are now young adults. Our 2 sons will be the first ones in 5 generations who have the chance to pass on the family name.
*** While my husband, the Safford involved here, has very little interest in the family tree, he is very proud of his ancestor John M. Safford, 1845-1912, who fought in the Civil War in the 20th Maine Regiment. They had an important role in Gettysburg on the 2nd day of battle at Little Round Top. The movie "Gettysburg" with Jeff Daniels and other good actors is an excellent story about this unit. We were thrilled to go there in 2000 and walk the same steps that this ancestor walked.
~~~ PLEASE E-MAIL ME if you have an interest in any of the information contained here! I am always eager to communicate with other people who are looking up Safford information, and have been thrilled to provide information all the way back to the 1600s for several people.
