All my Genealogy research has been done on the Internet; a wealth of information at your fingertips. The kindness of a few geneology experts who provided resources and information was extremely helpful in creating this Family Tree. Special thanks goes to Russell Sage, who provided much of this data. He's been researching the Sage family for over 45 years.
I am descended from David Sage, who was born in 1639, a native of Wales. He sailed for America in 1652 and was one of the first settlers in Middletown,Connecticut.
Middletown Connecticut is located in Middlesex County, situated on the Connecticut River. Middletown was originally held by the Wangunk Indians on its east bank and the Mattabessetts on the west bank. The first european settlers arrived in 1650 from the towns of Windsor, Hartford and Wethersfield,CT. In 1653 the name "Middletown" was adopted because of its proximity between Windsor and the mouth of the Connecticut River.
The majority of my line of ancestors settled in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Ohio. In New York, some of the Sages built a mill on a river in Chemung County and a town emerged around the mill...Sagetown.
Searching your roots can be fun! Patience, diligence, and good eyesight helps (for reading all those tiny dates!) If I can be of any help, feel free to email me with your questions; sharing is what its all about. An eternity existed before your birth and waits for you today, so go climb your tree!
