Grace was the second daughter of William Sargeant. She was born in Derby Twp 4
Sept 1903.

Mildred-- She was originally called Gracie May, but she hated that name and
when she was older, changed it to Grace Madeline.

She was a tomboy. I can recall her in pants crawling over a fence.

One day when father went away, the cattle got into the orchard and garden.
Grace had been left in charge and father was angry. She was pulling Dow on a
little wagon and father chased them down the road. She had to run all the way
home. I don't know whether he gave her a spanking or not. Roseline got under
the bed and Dow under another bed. To hear Grace tell it, was funny.

Roseline- "Grace seemed to be a carefree person. Wasn't worried about little things in her growing up years. She was a book-lover like her mother . On the bad wind storm Friday when the barn roofs etc were blowing off, she was involved in reading a good book, perhaps Anne of Green Gables who flavoured the cake with liniment, while I was frightened to death of what was happening. Grave gave her self to reading. I recall that when some unpleasant task was required of her, she said to me "Roseline, if you do so and so, I'll make you a doll's dress. She seemed to have no difficulty with math at school thus few worries. Her younger sister was never so clever. Grace enjoyed a good joke. She was very good to her Mom. no saucy words, We liked the man she married."[SargeantFamilyTree.FBK]

There is a lovely photo of Grace on page 56 of The History of Derby Township as
part of a Sunday School Class at Dunn School. She has
enormous white ribbons in her hair.

Mildred--Grace went to Northern Business College in Owen Sound, and when she
had graduated and was looking for a job, I hired her at the Canada Showcase Co.
She could talk to anyone

She worked there until the "blue serge" came along. That was Charlie Morrison.
He was with General Electric, head of the lighting department. I got some of
our lighting fixtures through him for 15 McTague in Guelph. They were married
4th Sept 1929 at Westside United
Church in Owen Sound.

There are extensive notes in my files prepared by Charlie Morrison on his
family and ancestors tracing them back to 1823.

They had four children, Don, Lynn and Carol and a baby that died near birth. It
is buried at Owen Sound in Grace's father's plot.According to burial records the child, a boy lived only 10 days adn was buried 8 June 1938.

Don lives in British Columbia. He, when he was younger used to play baseball
semi-professionally. He now is a fisherman on the B.C. coast. He had two
children by his first marriage, Nick and Sherree. They are both married with
children. He was then married again and had five children. Finally, he was
married to a lady by the name of Dang. She is Taiwanese from Bangkok Thailand.
She worked in the American embassy in Thailand. They met there. They have a boy
and a girl from her first marriage.

Lynne was picked queen of the Port Credit High School. She married a Mr Peter
Hathaway Young. They have four children.

Carol Morrison married Dr David Greig of Sault Ste Marie. They have four
children also.

Aunt Grace and Uncle Charlie are known in our family as people who always made
you feel welcome and at home. The art of hospitality was well practiced and
always commented upon.

Uncle Charles died the 17th April 1989 and Aunt Grace died the 17th of Sept
1989 some five months later. They are buried in Mt Forest in the west cemetery
beside Charles' relatives. They had spent their last years in Brantford.

Charles prepared a Morrison Family History in 1967 which is on file.
