Updated June 19, 2001

About Our Family Research

This homepage is an attempt to recapture my own family history.
My grandmother Matla (Miryam -Mary) Markowitz and my Grandfather Friedrich (Efraim) Schnider had both died in Israel before I reached the age of wisdom and so the family heritage and secrets had passed away with them.
I am trying to gather information, and I've only just begun.
Any help would be useful.

Matla Markowitz from Zambrow ,Polland, married Friedrich Schnider from Koln Germany in Yugoslavia ,where they had been in "Hachshara" ,on their way to Israel.
Matla had a brother -Isidore Markowitz, who lived in Miami Beach,Florida
(Barcelona Hotel)
Other relatives: Betty Markowitz ,her son
David Markowitz married Hadassah Herczberg on December 11th,1968 in Brooklyn ,NY
Morris Markowitz

Friedrich Schnider made "Alia" to Israel as a married man.
His parents,Joseph and Ella Schnider had arrived previously ,and the rest of his brothers and sisters accompanied them.
They settled in Haifa and Hadera .
Friedrich and Matla worked in various Kibutzim until he joined the Police Force.
They had two daughters: Hanna and Ilana. Both had been nurses.
Hana married Meir Kurlandski from London,England. They have two children:
Ziva Ella and Guy.
Ilana lives in Israel. She has two daughters.
