I have just started researching my family history. I have many relatives I need to speak with to assist me, but plenty of information will still be lacking.
What I know so far: my Scannell roots came to Boston, MA from Co. Sligo, Ireland in the early 20th century. I don't know my great-grandmother Scannell's maiden name, nor where her family came from (definitely of Irish decent). My paternal grandmother's parents (surnames: Fadden and Tonra) also came from the western part of Ireland, but I don't know what county.
My maternal grandmother's parents both emigrated from Lithuania (Vilna/Vilnius) to Boston, MA also at the beginning of the 20th century, probably to avoid harsh treatment of Jews by the Russian government at the time. Most likely any relatives that didn't emigrate were lost to the Holocost during WWII. (Surnames: Miller and Brown)
I know the least about my maternal grandfather's family (James Howard, b. 1903, d. 1974). I'm hoping to locate my half-aunt or half-uncles to find out more about my grandfather.
