Shortly after the marriage of his parents, they heard and accepted the gospel. They were advised to emigrate to America as soon as possible, which they did by help from the Perpetual Emigration Fund. They took their two small children and Abraham 's grandmother, Ann Hancock Done . After they arrived in the Valley, they settled in the Little Cottonwood area southeast of the city. Abraham 's father had worked in factories in England and was not familiar with farming, so times were very difficult. They lived in Springville for a while and then moved to Moroni . Abraham was baptized while they were living in Moroni . He learned early how to help on the farm. He also took an apprenticeship in a carpenter shop and became very proficient. Later, Abraham and his father and brothers purchased a saw mill up Payson Canyon . Abraham was called on a mission to the Southern States and while there contracted malaria. Because of his health he was released before the end of his mission. He and his wife were determined to live the complete gospel, so Abraham took two more wives over the next three years. He loved the gospel and as long as his health permitted, he remained active in the church and also in the community. He died from a stroke in Provo, Utah .
