About Our Family Research
I started research on my family history a bit late in life. I am the youngest of ten children of Michele and Maria Antonio , who imigrated to Brooklyn, N.Y. ,from Pignola, Potenza,Italy, in 1907. Being the youngest,(70 years old), I know very little about my family history. Anyone who would have any personal knowledge of my family has long been deceased. I do have three sisters still living, but their knowledge and memories are clouded by time.
Happily, my wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Pignola for a week during the summer of 2000. We were able to see the church where my parents were baptized and stand on the altar where they were married in 1906.We were able to obtain a copy of their marriage certificates (Civil and Church). Everyone was very helpful, considering our communication was limited by the language barrier.
