I am researching the following families:

Colley or Collie families in the Portsmouth area of southern Ohio. Members of the family may have originately settled in several areas of Virginia in the 1600's and have been known by various family names such as Colley, Corley, Cauley and Cowley (apparently my ancestors had a real identity crisis). Finley of Virginia was another name in our tree.

Mathews family of central Indiana (in or near Anderson. Also the Hotchkis family of the same area.

Anderson family from the Greenup area of northern Kentucky.

Many of the Colley/Cowley/Corley and the Siners (another relative) clans were believed to have Cherokee ties through blood, adoption or kidnap. The thought of a Native American ancestry is exciting to my family.
