Just three years ago, at nearly 50 years of age, I finally decided to track down a father I never knew. I ran into too many roadblocks (including the fact that my father, I found out, had died more than 25 years ago) and almost gave up. But my father-in-law encouraged me and so did an uncle (on my mother's side); it was this uncle who decided to also find out more about his and my Italian ancestry.
It was slow going at first but it eventually snow-balled: one line lead to another and another and another. I have to admit that much of my research is NOT original -- I have relied mostly on the work of those who worked on lines that connected to mine. Note, though, that I have double-checked evrything before accepting it as valid.
Although I still have some important gaps (e.g., my Sicilian grandfather's line [Tocco] and my grandmother on my Seals' side), I have traced my roots back dozens of generations and now include many kings and queens, emperors and empresses, lords and more. I have traced one line back to nearly 600 B.C.!
But I have lots more to find and I hope anyone reading this can add information. Please contact me.
