Alonzo Davis (son of John Edward Davis and Mary Margaret Simmons) was born March 27, 1877 in Harrie, Ga., and died November 27, 1960 in Bailey Co., Tx. He married Margaret Annie Pinkerton on March 26, 1902 in Charley, Clay Co., Texas.

Alonzo and Annie had two sons and one daughter. Cecil is the only one
that I know. I have talked to him many times. He lives in Muleshoe,
Tx. and comes to the Davis reunions each year. {as of 2000} He is 90
years old and still drives to town to buy groceries and get his mail.
Family and friends knew Alonzo as Lon. After the death of his father
the family moved from Holiday, Tx., to a place northeast of Wichita
Falls, Tx. known as the "Root Farm" where Lon stock-farmed. The "Root
Farm" was south-west of a community and little town called Charlie,
Tx. at the north end of Clay County, Tx.
