About Our Family Research

We have very little information about our family at this time. My Great-grandfather, William Armisted Sedgwick was born in or about 1852 (though he is not listed in the 1881 census) on Highbottom Farm, in Bentham, in Yorkshire, UK. His father, also William (b. 1826), was married to Elizabeth Turner(b.1828). William's future wife, Anne Towler(b.1875) grew up at Cross Key farm, Rathmell, near Settel, also in Yorkshire. She was the eldest daughter of John (b.1847) and Ellen (b.1851) Towler, who had two other daughters, Elisabeth(b.1876) and Alice(b.1879). John Towler's parents, George (b.1817) and Ann (b.1815) lived at Hollin Hall, also in Rathmell, Yorkshire. The Towler's emmigrated to Canada before William, sometime in the late 1800's, In November,1999 William and Annie were married at the St. Albins Anglican Church in Moosemin, Saskatchewan(at that time NWT). Annie and William had four children: (in order: Agnes (May 4, 1900, married Poole),Richard, Elizabeth and George Archibald. All the children were born in a span of 5 years and all are now deceased. Richard, my Grand-father had two sons: Richard Larry Sedgwick (born Nov.12/34) and William Kent Sedgwick (born July/1942). Richard Larry, my father, married Helen Nelson on September 14, 1957 and had three children: Catherine Carla, Richard James, and Gayda Christina. We are very interested in finding out more information about the Sedgwick side of the family (as the Nelson side has already been extensively researched by my late Grand-mother, Maria.
