"The John Thomas Jean's of Leesville, LA."

Updated April 15, 2003

About Our Family Research

The Sir Name Jean, Jeans, Jeane, Jeanes we believe are all from the same family, for some reason elder family members, just spelled it different. However, there is a head stone in the Cooper Cementary, Located in Pickering, Louisiana, near Walton Jeane's grave, giving a definition of the different spelling. Maybe that will explain why we have so many different versions of our SIR NAME.

If you look at Grandma IDA and Grandpa Tom's marriage license, it is signed as John Thomas Jean. However, all of their children spelled their name as Jeane. So many siblings of the same family find their birth certificates spelled differently, from their parents, brothers and sisters.
