About Our Family Research

My relatives have lived in Hendricks or Putnam County, Indiana since 1824. Three brothers, George, Joseph, and James moved to Indiana with their mother from Bedford County, Tennessee in 1824.
Prior to Tennessee, they lived in Sharpsburg, KY. Prior to Kentucky, their ancesters lived in Virgina and imigrated from Ireland and were formerly from Scotland.
I have a story of the Sharp family written by Malinda (Randall) Sharp married to James, son of James of Kentucky and Tennessee. The elder James died in Bedford County, Tennessee in 1816.
I have a detailed listing of cousins, aunts, and uncles from around 1824 through 1908 and some later than 1908. My oldest direct relative was named James born about 1745 and fought in the Revolutionary War with brothers Joseph and William.
James' son was James, his son was George W., his son was William, born in Indiana in 1849 and served in the Union Army, died in Coatesville, IN about 1890. His son was Emory, my grandfather, his son was Elsworth, my father, born 1889, died in 1962.
My mother was Faye Kathleen Derr born 1899 in Clayton, IN, died in 1981. I had two brothers, Howard (deceased 1970), Harold (lives in Houston, TX) and three sisters, Helen (Sharp) Fern, lives in Sun City Center, FL, Margaret (deceased), and Doris (Sharp)Pratt, lives in Hot Springs, AK.
