Helms/Pyles/Arkley's of Rothbury, Northumberland UK

Updated September 5, 2000

I've recently started researching my family tree and have can go as far back as my great great great grandfather, John Arkley. I would love to hear from anyone else who is searching for these families. The Helm's (George Helm, and his son John Ross Helm moved to America (Pensylvania?) for a while in c1870 but returned when George's wife died.). They lived with George's sister, Jane, in Hawick, Scotland after they came home.

Several generations of Pyle's lived in Rothbury, Northumberland -and John James (Jack) Pyle was the monumental stonemason. He carved the inscription ("East West Hame's Best") in the great fireplace in Cragside.

Feel free to email me if you want anymore information about my family tree! Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
