Most of my family research has been focussed on the American lineage as it has been the most fruitful and least expensive (both in time and money) to pursue.
Both of my parents were born to Hungarian mothers in Kanawha County, WV. My father in Pond Gap/Blakely and my mother in Ward. In the 1st half of the 20th century there was a heavy concentration of immigrant families in Kanawha County. They were drawn there by the work oppotunities afforded them by the many coal mines operating during that era.
My maternal grandfather is of Russian origin and only my paternal grandfather's RIDER line has a heavy concentration of long-time American residents. I have not been able to cross the ocean on any of his ancestors yet.
My highest level of interest is in the following lines: RIDER, WILLS, BARKER, DEARIEN (DEAREN), PROCTOR, LIVELY, BARNES, MORRIS, SZASZ, YUHASZ, HENDRICK, SCHNEIDER, KOZAK, BOKA, and NEMTRO.
My most wanted is the parents of Isaac O. Rider b. 1804 somewhere in Pennsylvania. His father later moved to Wythe County VA where Isaac remained until his death in the 1860s. There are three Rider men who arrive sometime before 1820 in Wythe and all are thought to be related. The million dollar question is how they are related (if in fact they are) and is one of them Isaac's father? Any theories are certainly welcome.
