Alexander Dallas (son of Peter Dallas and Margaret Andrews)10, 11, 12, 13, 14 was born 16 March 1845 in Allegheny, PA, and died 01 April 1935 in Baltimore, MD. He married Guilielma Wilkinson on 11 August 1875 in ,Muscatine County, IA, daughter of George Roberts Wilkinson and Maria Smith.

(from letter dated Jan. 10, 1936 - written by Alice Wilkinson Sparks to Justine Elma Dallas): Alexander Dallas married Elma Wilkinson Aug. 11, 1875 at her home on the original farm settled by her parents twenty years before. Elma and Alexander made their home for a very short time with his parents...that is with his father, Peter Dallas, a scotsman, and his second step-mother. Originally Peter Dallas and his frist wife came from Scotland, and Alexander, the only son of the first wife was born in Allegheny, PA. Peter Dallas and his first wife had three other children, Mary, Jane, and Maria. Mary Dallas married Alexander MacIntosh..."Jenny" married Junius Lewis...and Maria remained single. Peter Dallas and his second wife had two girls...names unknown. He and his third wife had "a swarm of boys and girls whose career we've never been interested in nor followed."
James Andrews Dallas was born to Elma Wilkinson and Alexander Dallas June 26, 1875 on a farm two or three miles south of Atalissa, owned by Alexander Dallas and on which he had built a home very shortly after his marriage to Elma Wilkinson. Esme and Georgia were also born on this farm...after which Elma and Alexander moved to Massena, Iowa...or rather to a farm about 2 1/2 miles from that village where Dorothy, Amy, and Rachel were born. Rachel had a twin sister who only lived a few weeks. Maseena is in the southeastern corner of Cass County, which is in the southwester part of Iowa...not so far from Council Bluffs and Omaha. The Dallas family moved to Atlantic, Iowas some time before Elma Wilkinson Dallas' death, January 27, 1915. Alexander Dallas survived his wife by 20 years, dying in the home of his widowed daughter, Amy Dallas Hoadley...3408 Alto Rd., Baltimore, MD. He was 90 years old at the time of his death. He died April 1, 1935.

Marriage announcement in Muscatine Daily Journal Auguat 27, 1875: "On Wednesday, Aug. 11th, 1875, by te Rev. John Hudson, at the residence of the bride's father, near Atalissa, Iowa, Mr. Alexander Dallas,(eldest son of Peter Dallas, Esq.,) and Miss elma Wilkinson, all of this county. This young couple are well known as among the most intelligent and worthy members of the society in which most of their lives has passed, and which sends after them in their new sphere hosts of good wishes for their future happiness and success in life. -- Miss W. has been known to many of our readers for a year or more by her numerous and excellent poetical contributions over the nom de plume of 'Nettie Montrose.' Hoping that the prosaic realities of married life may ever be as bright as the poetry of their anticipations, we extend to the happy couple our most sincere congratulations."

Atalissa, son of Peter and Margaret (Andrews) Dallas; owns eighty acres of land, valued at $50 per acre; born March 16, 1845, in Allegheny City, Penn.; in the fall of 1861, came to this county. Married Miss Elma Wilkinson, daughter of George R. and Maria Wilkinson, Aug 11, 1875; she was born July 29, 1854, in Belmont Co., Ohio; have three children -- James A., born June 26, 1876; Esma, Jan. 7, 1878, and Mary, Feb 18, 1879. Politics, Republican.

Obituary Atlantic News-Telegraph, Wednesday April 3, 1935: ALEXANDER DALLAS RITES TO BE HELD HERE TOMORROW "Funeral services for Alexander Dallas, 90, former resident of this city who died Monday at Baltimore, Md., at the home of his daughters, Miss Rachel Dallas and Mrs. Amy Ellen Hoadley, will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Osborne-Tomlinson funeral home here. Mr. Dallas had been enjoying exceptionally good health until two weeks before his death when he suffered a severe heart attack. He was born on March 16, 1845 at Allegheny, Pa. When 17 years of age he came west with his parents ina covered wagon, and the family settled on a farm near Atalissa, Ia. Mr. Dallas was united in marriage there to Miss Elma Wilkinson. They came to Cass county in 1881 and resided on a farm in Victoria township until 1899 when they retired and located in Atlantic, living many years at 400 Pine Street. Mrs. Dallas died here about 20 years ago and in 1931 Mr. Dallas went to Baltimore to make his home with his daughters. He is survived by six children: James A. Dallas of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Esme Bradbury of Dexter, Mich., Mrs. Georgia Larson and Mrs. Dorothy Kirk of Iowa City and Mrs. Hoadley and Miss Dallas of Baltimore. 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mr. Dallas was widely known over this territory many years as a breeder of fine horses.
