Elizebeth Johnson came from a large family. Her grandfather's mother brought to Connecticut the first small spinnig wheel used there. The Johnsons
( formerly Johnstons) were some of the first Pilgrims who came from England. This fact has not been authenticated.
John and Elizabeth were married in about 1799, and lived in Catskill, New York which is in Green County until May, 1837 when they moved to Allen County, Indiana. Their daughter, Polly and her husband, Riley, probably had already made the move to Allen County, Indiana.
Elizabeth died on October 12 (18), 1842 at the home of her son, George, and was buried in Allen County, Indiana in the Diehl Cemetery which is in Maumee Township.
