My mother was a Neale. Her father was Maurice Neale who was killed in WW1. Mauric's father was William Neale, b 1853 and his father was John Edmond Neale b 1818, he had a brother Samuel. John Edmund Neale was already a widower when he married Sarah Eatwell but I cannot find out who his first wife was. John and Sarah had 10 children. The youngest child Martha was the grandmother of Olive who is a cousin twice removed from me, I think. I am in frequent touch with Olive and it is great to hear about relations I knew nothing of.
My grandmother was a Dowse who lived in Bedmont in Hertfordshire. She was born in 1887 and married Maurice Neale in 1914. Her father was Isaac Dowse b 1864, and he was christened at Abbots Langley Parish Church 27 10 1864. He married Eliza Alice Edmonds in 1887. His father was Isaac Dowse b 1823.
I should love to know whether there are any more relatives out there who don't know that I exist.
