I was bored one Saturday afternoon and on a whim, decided to see what information was on the internet regarding the Watson side of the family. One thing led to another and here I am, with over 400 people in my tree and still quite a few blanks to fill in.
I've started doing my Mom's side but am still missing a lot of information on my Grandma's lineage although I was able to find quite a bit of information on my Grandpa's lineage.
You'll notice that Eric's family tree is included here also, at least what I have of it at this point. And yes, before you notice, his Mom is a Taylor too, so we are hoping we aren't distant relatives :) Hahaha.
I haven't quite finished with my living, immediate relatives, so don't be offended if you don't find yourself on here - you will be soon.
So, enjoy and please feel free to email me with any updates, corrections (for those of you that are living, I don't have your birthdates, marriage dates, etc.) or just to say 'hi'. This is a work in progress, so keep checking back for more information.
Quick Stats for my family tree: <as of 1/31/07> Total # of People: 421 Total # of Marriages: 164 Average Lifespan: 64 yrs, 7 mos Total # of Generations: 24 Total # of Surnames: 176
Interesting Facts:
~Much of my research thus far has come from other people's family trees online. There is a lot of information out there and has resulted in me finding distant relatives also doing genealogical research.
~Great Grandma Carrie's maiden name was not Taylor as we all had thought, but rather Mullican. Taylor was her mother's (Tennessee) maiden name. I spent many hours trying to decipher this 'mystery' but was successful through research of census records and the help of some distant relatives who had been tracing their own family trees. I have since provided the 'missing link' to these people for the Taylor/Mullican/Watson family connection.
~I traced the Taylor family, through Carrie, back to 1074 in England. However, I'm not sure the last decendant is correct; the most recent one I am sure is accurate either born or died in 1256. The Taylor family named evolved from Taillefer to Taylifer to Taylor. This is common with many surnames in earlier centuries.
~I could only trace the Watson family, through Elzen, back to William Watson, of Orange County, North Carolina. Not sure of William's birthdate but he died in 1814. Also via one of our distant relatives, I was able to get an account of an ancestor regarding how the Watson family moved from NC to Tennessee. The also resulted in knowledge that a large portion of the Watson family sailed down the Mississippi River only to eventually settle in Texas.
~I have provided a link to the Dekalb County, TN Genealogical society - this is an amazing website for those of you interested in our lineage. The have electronic versions of newspapers, land deeds, census information, etc. on there to search and view free of charge. I've tried to make a notation of everything I've found for each individual it related to for future reference.
