Rodolfo Carrillo was born in 1906, in or near Mexico City, Mexico. His parents are Lino and Concepacion (Rodriguez) Carrillo. Virtually little is known about his parents, as there are no documents available. Rodolfo had two sisters, Matilde and Manuela, in addition to a brother Lino. Rodolfo’s parents died when he was about 10 or 11. He was then separated from his brother Lino, as he supposedly ran off with the circus and was never heard from or found. Therefore, after Rodolfo’s parents death, he was raised for a short time by his sister Matilde Carrillo de Gomez. Matilde and Francisco, her husband, at this time had two children of their own-Francisco and Consuelo. (They had 3 additional children born later on – Robert, Jorge, and Evagelina.) Francisco is listed as having been a jornalero (laborer) on their passport documents. Together in 1919, the Gomez family with Rodolfo Carrillo immigrated to the United States and landed in a Spanish settlement in Santa Rita (Grant County), New Mexico.
