This site has been set up mainly to try and establish what happened to our great grandfather Hans Gulbrandsen (Volden) who emigrated to America in the summer of 1881 and left behind in Norway Anne Skjelhaugen who was pregnant with his child (Our grand father Hans Hansen Skjekhaug) What happened to Hans in America no one seems to know. The only infomation on his location is from our grandfathers birth cirtificate in Vaga where it stipulates his father emigrated to America. I do have a shipping manifest where it shows his destination was Tracy Min USA. Tracy I have since discovered was a railway town popular with Norwegians in the 1880's. All my searches so far have not brought any further results, so if you are a decendant or would just like to help join the search please do and contact me on my e-mail. By the way I have quiet a lot of infomation on Anne Skjelhaugen who although I neve met was a loverly woman and one I have great respect for.
