I am the Grandson of John Lunsford Slawson, and the second son of Melburn Edward Slawson, My Dad was named after his Mother’s Brother Melburn Miller, and his Father’s brother Edward Slawson, both Melburn and Edward died before they were adults.
I have been a resident of Rush Springs,Oklahoma since about May 1956, My wife, Mary and I are currently raising our two sons, Shawn Edward Slawson and Travis Lee Slawson, we enjoy our grandchildren, that My Daughter Amanda has blessed us with, we have 3 grandsons, Holden Kent Scott, Kaleb Lynn Scott, and Luke Alan Scott. Although my oldest son, Joseph, has not blessed us with any grandchildren yet!, he does bless us with his presence from time to time, you know how them single boys are......
We attend the Slawson Family Reunion each year on the first Sunday of June at Sulpher, Oklahoma. This reunion has been going since June of 1972. After my grandfather (John Lunsford Slawson) past away in 1971, My Dad said that Grandpa had always wished that we could have had a family gathering. So with the help of some of my Dad's cousin's from Healdton Oklahoma it was started, and gets better every year. Now we normally make a whole weekend out of it, by staying at the Chickasaw Motor Lodge in Sulpher Oklahoma starting on Friday night with a cook out in the park, for further information email me at countryroots101@yahoo.com
