The Snares came to Florissant Colorado by covered wagon in 1894. Charles J. Snare was from Castleton, Wyoming, Snareville Illinois and his wife Julia E. Long was from Astoria, Bader, Illinois. Charles' Father was Nathan Snare (Schnerr) and Julias' Father was Abram K. Long. Charles and Julia had six children, Claude Maxwell Snare(1894), Alice Ione Snare (1896), William Wayne Snare (1897), Walter Nathan Snare (1903), Charles J. Snare (1906), and Dorothy Maude Snare (1908). Charles and Julia came to Colorado after about two years of trying to farm in Plains, Kansas. Julia was a school teacher in Bader, Illinois; Plains, Kansas, and in Colorado. Charles was a multitask person who became a Doctor, (DOO) a farmer, and a rancher. Charles J. Snare was only 46 years old when he died in 1914. This left Julia and the older two brothers to try to make a living and raise the rest of the Snare Clan. Julia's Pioneer Spirit, work ethic, and common sense has to be credited to the successes of the Snares in the Florissant/Fourmile community.
