The Snead/Parce Family

About Our Family Research

WORK IN PROGRESS

I have been researching my line and my husband's line for about 5 years and have found much on each branch, but am still searching for missing links. My husband's line includes Snead, Moore, Taylor, Boyd, Rutledge, Farmer, Pascal, Harding, Hollingsworth, Burton, Neal, Swafford, Dixon, Vandiver, Pool, Manning, Tapley, Lee, Shed, Lemance, Beck, Marcingill, and Fredericks, and on my side, Parce, Nelson, Doremus, Woodbury, Hilliker, Lockhart, Dansberry, Case, Hilpl, Eiber, Shaw, Sutton, Chase, Manton, Spink, Tucker, and many allied lines. My husband's family appears to have come in large part from Virginia and settled in North and South Carolina. My paternal lines in the most part come from England, and settled in New England, some as early as the time of the Mayflower and Winthrop Fleet. They settled in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, many migrating to New York and points west. My maternal line is primarily Dutch and settled in Westchester Co of New York from France,(Huguenots) Germany, and the Netherlands. The Lockhart line appears to be from Scotland, and Woodbury line appears to come from England.

Some lines are not at this time validated and anything you see that matches or corrects what is posted, will help sort out the errors that may be found. The Doremus connection of Joseph E. Doremus to the rest of the line is not validated at this time, but appears to be the only viable conclusion at this time. The Lockhart connection of Lillie Lockhart is also not validated, but, again appears to be a workable connection. Harriet Hilliker probably connects with the Hilliker line from Westchester Co., but as of this time I have not found a connection. The connection of Phillip Snead, Sr. to Archibald Lucas Snead is also not validated, but as Phillip had a son Archibald L. Snead, it appears likely that the families are connected and that Archibald Lucas is probably Phillip's father.

I am eager to find anything on my husband's Snead, Boyd and Rutledge lines, prior to their settling in America. The Sneads and Rutledges were living in Lunenburg Va. and the Boyds appear to have come from Ireland and settled in South Carolina.

My Parce/Chase families came from England and perhaps Wales and settled in Rhode Island. Would like to find the Parce (originally the name was Pearce) line back to Wales to find more on this line. My Doremus and Hilliker lines can be traced back to 1600's in Germany, and I have much on the allied lines that connect with them.

Anyone interested in any of these names is welcome to get in touch with me and see if there are any connections. Am always searching for new "Cousins"
