Oswald Adam Lehner (son of John George Lehner and Maria Barbara Schlegel)373 was born 22 Oct 1873 in Woodland, WI373, 374, and died 15 Oct 1961 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Beaver Dam, WI375, 376, 377. He married (1) Katherine Neurohr on 14 Jul 1903 in Beaver Dam, Dodge, Wisconsin, daughter of John Neurohr and Katherine Shingo. He married (2) Laura Kress on 09 Jun 1917 in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, WI378, 379, 380, daughter of Louis Kress.

Obituary says that he was the oldest alumnus of the St. Amelia (sp?) Orphanage. Having lived there from 1880 to 1887.

From a note iven to Herbert and Julie Lehner from Oswald Lehner:

At 7 years of age went to Good Shepard convent. At 14 went to St. John's village near Sheboygan to Wendel Vanderich for 3 years - than at 17 he went to Racine - 1891 - to work for the Lehner Bros. Dairy who had the first bottled milk in Racine. He got a boil and couldn't peddle milk, so went to Veronica and Henry Klink and stayed 3 winters to make wood - in summer he worked at a neighbor Nick Klink - Hartford to Joe Gulden farming to Wm. Rausch farming - John Troller farming - Hauser farming 3 years - to John Lehner's Livery stable at Mayville 1 winter - Conrad Hauser at Rubicon farming - Henry Budde at Beaver Dam to peddle milk 2 years and met Katie Neuhor - He borrowed money from Honey Klink - bought farm from Honey in 1900 to get money back and had own milk for 6 years under River Side Dairy.

Owned the farm adjoing farm, down Center Rd. to Herbert Lehner's at N6373 Center Rd., south of Beaver Dam. In 2006, this farm was owned and ocupied by Herbert Lehner Jr., ex-wife.

The O.A. Lehner farm consists of 50 acres and has been in the family name for the past 30 years. Mr. Lehner was born at Woodland where he part of his early youth. About 30 acres of land are under plow, the rest being pasture, marsh and including several acres of timber.

The barn is 24 by 40 feet at present houses a herd of Guernsey and Holstein cattle numbering 11 head with the young stock. There are six milk cows. Mr. Lehner id s Kraft-Phenix patron. He lost five head of cattle last year when they strayed from the night pasture and were killed by a passing train while grazing near the track. Mr. Lehner formerly had a milk route in Beaver Dam.

He is raising purebred Yorkshire hogs at present and generally keeps from one to two brood sows. This is the bacon type of hog and he flavors the breed. The Golden Glow corn is raised, Barley, oats, wheat and a small amount of flax mixed is the grain acreage. Alfalfa and timothy mixed has been the hay crop for several years. Part of the property is a black soil and part a clay loam.

In addition to his farm, 40 acres of the Devitt place across the road is being rented and also small acreages near by. Four horses are used for the work. An orchard to the north of the home contains several varieties of apple trees. Mrs. Lehner raises the White Rock breed of chickens and is preparing the brooder house for the arrival of baby chicks within a few days.

As a special crop he raised a strip of canning beans for the Columbus Canning Factory last year and had good returns from that crop. This crop is generally planted around the 1st pf June, which enables the land to be worked and plowed under several times before planting. John Lehner the eldest son of the family is employed at Racine, Herbert is assisting with the work at the Meyer farm on the Leipzig road and Josephine is a student at St. Peter’s School at Beaver Dam. The Daily Citizen has been read at the farm home since the first day of publication.
