My Simons family of Signal Mtn., Hamilton Co., TN., also known as Walden's Ridge,Tennessee,came to Signal Mtn.,about 1900. One of the children, a son, was Archibald Maxwell Simons,Born abt. 1875. He grew and married Minnie Belle Levi, whose family also lived on Signal Mtn. These are my great-grandparents.
His father was also an Archibald "Arch" Simons,Born abt. 1845 in TN. He married (1)Martha Witt and (2) Rhoda Witt. (3) Martha Millwood, dau. of Hampton Millwood and Sarah Ridge. The 1st two wives were sisters. Later in life after natural death of his 1st 2 wives, he married a 3rd time to Martha Millwood.
He had moved to this mountain from White Co.TN., and had previously lived in Warren, and Van Buren Co., TN. before arriving at Walden's Ridge.
He married Martha Witt in Van Buren County,TN.
To further confuse the reader, this second Arch Simons's FATHER, was also ARCHIBALD MAXWELL SIMONS b. abt. 1800 in NC or Tn. He married in Blount Co., Tn. to Christiana/Christina MOORE, in 1926, Mar. 29, 1826, Blount Co., Tn. It is thought that his parents/siblings migrated to TN. via Kentucky/North Carolina from Pennsylvania from 1750-1800.
I am especially interested in any info on Kentucy or Penn. Also, his wife Christiana/Kerchaney "Cat" Moore ancestors.
