I am researching my grandfather. John William (Wilhelm) Juluis Sommerfeld. He was born in Prossekelmuhle Kreisz Filchene, Germany,on 9 June 1869. His parents Julius born 1841 and Charlotte born 1840 in Germany. He imigrated from Germany in 1894, settling at Bellingham, Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota. He had 2 brothers Otto Emil born 1866 and Julius born187 he had only one arm, 2 sisters Agusta born 1872,who died 1894 in childbirth at Bellingham, MN. and Minnie born 1878. They all imigrated from Germany. On 2 Dec. 1897 Grandpa married Alvina Paulina Vandray, (also spelled Fandrig,) she was born 7 Jan. 1876, at Schoenlancke Kriesz Charnekau, Germany. She had 6 brothers and 5 sisters.Her father was Henry Fandrig. Grandpa and grandma Sommerfeld had 13 children, the last 2 were born at their new farm home south of Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota. My father Ernest was the only one in the family who left Minnesota settling in Washington State in 1933. All of the family were farmers in Minnesota.
