I started doing family history about 9 years ago when my father told me he didn't know when or where he was born as he was made ward of the state at the tender age of 2 years. He had a little sister who was also made ward of the state she was only a baby.
My father never new his real birthdate or name until he was 61 years of age. He didn't want to find out who he really was as he was afraid of what I might find, but much to his relief and pleasure I found many other brothers and sisters he never knew existed. He got to know one sister in particular and they became very close, despite not being raised together I could still see so many things that they did the same, so much the same it was uncanny. I found the rest of his family in time for him to meet them and see the pleasure on his face at realising he had other member in his family who he could also love. My father passed away at the age of 64 knowing who he was and some of his back ground, also knowing that he did have a mother, father, grandmother and grandfather. I stopped climbing the family tree when my father died but I would now like to start again in hope of finding more family branches. Family names research so far are HORN, WENITONG, DERRICK, ROMANIS, WENIGETUNGA AND HAMEY most of who originate from India. It is also nice to know what my back ground is too, so I must continue climbing.
