About Our Family Research
I am very new at this & trying desperately to prove my GGrandmother was a Native American. Need information regarding Indian reservation for "5 Civilized Tribes 1898=1914". My Ggrandmother was born in 1850 & supposedly taken in (adopted) by my GGgrand father & his family. Elias Mason in Ohio. Can find no state of her birth & no birth certificate, etc.
Family history states she was born in colerville(sp?)Ohio. Can't find that in Ohio. Closest place would be collierville, TN.
Did find Colville in Northwest US that is home to 12 tribes. None of them Cherokee.
Site in TN was Large reservation & 5 tribes were: Cherokee, Chicasaw, Creek, Choctaw, Seminole. I can find "nothing" on this place, or dispersion of the tribes. don't know how close it was to Ohio!!
