View Tree for Geata Geata "Jat"

Geata "Jat" (son of Teatwa).

 Includes NotesNotes for Geata "Jat":
From Geata back in time are probably Norse "gods" as described in theProse Edda of Iceland, possibly with some thread of reality. Itwas a customary belief in the Middle Ages, evident from the sagas ofthe Kings of Norway that the ancient gods, especially Thor and Oden, really existed.

These are the ancestors of Geata, back to Thor:

Taetwa, Biaf (Bjar), Skjaldun (Skjold), Heremod, Itrmann, Athra(Annar), Bedvig, Seskef (Sceaf),

NOTE from Luke Stevens: Seskef (Sceaf) evidently confused with Shem,in the
Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, which make him a son of NOAH and say that he,or his son
Bedvig, was born on the Ark! Trojan says he ruled Denmark until 999B.C. Other sources call him either Woden the Odin of the North whoruled Asgard 70-55 B.C. In any case, the pedigree is deficient byseveral generations. Compare also the truly Bizarre British Edda.

NOTE from Brian Tompsett: The Anglo Saxon Chronicles shows Bedwig as aGrandson of the biblical Noah at this point, whearas the Prose Eddashows the lineage from Thor to Odin.
Geata's ancestors, continued: Magi, Modi, Vingener, Vingethor,Einridi, Loridi, Thor.

Children of Geata "Jat" are:
  1. +Godwulf.
