Granddaddy Ernest Luther Sowers came from Welch, W.Va. to Bluefield, W.Va. following the birth of my dad, Charles Campbell Sowers in 1914. Mom, Hazel Evelyn Hagy, and dad were married June 8, 1940 and I was born October 6, 1941 in Radford, Va. My sister, Katherine Lee Sowers (now McMichen) was born May 31, 1943 in Pa. Before moving to where Granddaddy lived in Seven Mile Ford, Va. in 1946, we were living in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
I graduated from Chilhowie High School, Chilhowie, VA. (three miles from Seven Mile Ford) in 1958, and the families moved from Seven MIle Ford to Orlando, FL. Grandmother Sowers (Mammaw) was Delilah Virginia Crowder from the Wytheville, VA. area. My mother's family was from the Abingdon, VA. area. Her maternal family name was Caldwell. I am new to the research and have not gone much further back than my grandparents at this time.
