The Spears Family History was traced back to 1785 , finding of John Spears and Anna Graves Spears. They were both from Virginia, but most of the Children were born in Tennessee.
Lightning killed both William and his father the same day, August 2, 1858. They are buried in Harris Cemetery in Fayette County, Illinois.
In search for some Spears families, we found a cemetery in Tallula, Illinois, with 75 Spears graves. Some very old ones, dating back as far as 1818, 1822, 1826, and 1830. One grave of Z.B. Spears who was born June 12, 1818. We also found some Spears in Beardstown, but they said that their Grandparents came from Ohio and Pennsylvania. We feel that there is a possibility of them being Brothers or Sisters of John, but they took a different route getting to Illinois....
This is for all those interested in the Spears Family. Lot of time was spent in searching for dates and information. We want to thank all whom helped by giving us some dates we needed to do this geneaolgy. Any mistakes in date's etc are not ententional.
