The Spencer-Arnold Families, Ancestors & Descendents, NY

Updated December 13, 2012

About Our Family Research

We have finished an extensive genealogy of the Spencer side of our heritage going back to the UK ca 1500. Our line descends from the youngest of four Spencer brothers who arrived in the New World ca 1630, eventually relocated to Haddam, CT, then to Spencertown, Columbia Co, NY, on to Otsego County, NY, then to Cattaraugus Co, NY, and to Erie County, NY.
Our Arnold line is traced back to the late 1790s in Cayuga County, NY in the Town of Conquest. We have hit the wall, however, in trying to push the line further back. Family legend has it that the Arnolds came to New York via Vermont and Canada. We have yet to prove or disprove this. We suspect, too, that the line might just have come into NY from CT and/or RI.
Persistance will pay off.
