A Spilmon Reunion is held anually 1st weekend in August at the Little Egypt Youth Camp in Dahlgren, IL. This represents decendants of SAMUEL BAILEY SPILMON who married ELIZABETH ANN SOUTH on March 01, 1883 in White co ILL. SAMUEL was an orphan and is presumed to have come from the area of Terre Haute, IN. The South lineage has been traced back to Daniel South of Middlesex co NJ by other members of the South Family. I am a decendant of Wilber Anzel Spilmon and Beulah Marie Aaron. Wilber was the 2nd of 7 childern. Wilber and Beulah settled in Eastern Franklin co IL, and had 12 childern. My Father Marion Anzel Spilmon, was their 6th child. He left home about 16 year of age and worked with a traveling circus along with his uncle Claude before joining the Navy in April of 1944. While breifly out of service between 1955 and 1958, he and his brother lived and worked in Rockford, IL. It was there that he meet and married Genevieve Maureen Grogan. She was 1st Child of John Grogan an Irish Immagrant, and Gertrude Graef believed to be of Iowa City, IA and Austrian decent. My father retired from the Navy in 1969 an E9 MC Machinist Mate and settled in Necedah, WI. I am Marion's first child of 6 children. I work as a computer scientist in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was in the Navy from 78-84. Last year (Jan 9 1999) I was married to Natalia Michaelovnova Kravchouk of St Petersburg, Russia. I found and romanced my bride through the internet.
