SPINKS & LARDNER: ORIGINS & IRISH LINKS

Updated June 25, 2001

About Our Family Research

My parents were born in County Galway, Ireland. My father William Herbert Spinks (1907-1984) was from Gort, County Galway. When he was a young boy he delivered mail to William Butler Yates. He also was a farmer and then eventually migrated to Boston, MA where he met and married Catherine Lardner, my mother (1911-1984). I have two older brothers, William and John. Both parents are buried in St. Joseph's Cemetary which is in a town known as West Roxbury, MA.

Much of the research on the Spinks from Galway, Ireland has been a concentrated effort in trying to establish real links with my father's heritage as well as his mother's maiden name of Carcary which is Scotish. Contributions regarding the Lardner family has come from family members particulary my Aunt Nora(Doherty) who is 96 years old.
