The Jerry B. Sportsman group of San Antonio, Texas

My family goes back to Ireland. The oldest relative I can find was William Sportsman born 1765 in Ireland. Some how he became an orphan at the age of 6 and was brought to the United States and eventualy setteled in Kentucky.
He and others left for Oregon in the early1800's. In Kansas they were stuck in a bad winter storm and lost a lot of folks. They lived in dug-outs in the hills until spring. Half of the ones left went on to Oragon and half went to McKenney, Texas.
A direct decendent of William named John and his wife Elizabeth came south. They had a son named John Jordan Who married Jane Jennie Brown.They had 8 children. Jack-George Authur-Harvey-James Hughey-Laura- Betsey-Emma 1884-1926-and Elizabeth. James Hughey was my grand father who had 3 children. James Daniel-Leroy-Mary Kathren. James Daniel was my father.
