George M. Spradling, of Ohio, is researching my family generally from Arkansas back to Tennessee and earlier, to Virginia, and possibly back to England. My Grandfather, Gustavus Adolphus Spradling, was born Nov 16, 1861, probably in the vicinity of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He relocated in early 1900's to Mullens and Otsego, West Virginia with his wife, Mary Elizabeth Monahan (Monagan). He was a merchant serving coal camps and general trade. He died 1939, in Beckley, West Virginia. Mary was born April 17, 1871, in Braidwood, Illinois, and died Beckley, West Virginia November 26, 1951. My Great Grandfather was Ephriam Spradling, born May 14, 1831, and died 1912 in or near Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is buried in Hinesville, Arkansas. His wife, Sarah D. Norton, was born Jan 1844 in Missouri. She died 1918 aand is also buried in Hinesville.I know of nine children, the oldest of which was my Grandfather. Also, there was the following: George N. , b. 1866; Caswell B.M. ; Virginia A., b. 1868; Alexander Ephriam, b. 1872; John L., b. Jan. 1873; Mary E.; Hatti C., b. Jan, 1881; and Nancy M., b. Feb. 1887. My Great Great Grandfather was Leonard Spradling, b. 1806, and d. Oct. 1858 in Sebastian County, Ark. His wife, Elizabeth Norris, was b. Jan., 1807, in Virginia, and d. Oct., 1858, in Sebastian County, Ark. Of nine children, my Gr.Gr. G'father was oldest, followed by: Telitha Jane, b. July, 1832; Nancy E., b. Apr., !834; John S., b. Oct. 1836; Elizabeth, b. Nov., 1838; George N., b. 1840; Robert T., b. Mar., 1843; Sarah W., b. Dec., 1845; and Martha M., b. Sept., 1848. I am trying to pick up earlier ancestors, beginning with Leonard's father, David, and his wife, Tilitha Thompson. George M. Spradling
