Paul C. Cameron to Duncan Cameron (Raleigh) 6 Nov 1848: one serious case in Wake--"that is Letty wife of Fish Dam Sam--I was with her until dark last night & had Dr. Hicks with me--there is but a poor prospect for her recovery--a case of fever--on a person who had frequent attacks of chills--"

Paul C. Cameron to Duncan Cameron 9 Nov 1848: "Dr. Hicks has just left here having been requested to visit for the first time Patty whose health has declined a good ddeal in the last two weeks. He says her case is one that often occurs in girls of her age--& unless the monthly flow can be brought on she may perish from some disease of hte heart or lungs. The dr. says that he has a good hope that Letty may recover at hte Peak Plantation & the woman Peg at the Hunt Place is recovering slowly."
