PCC to DC 9 Nov 1848: "Dr. Hicks has just left here having ben requested to visit for the first time Patty whose health has declined a good deal in the last two weeks. He says her case is one that often occurs in girls of her age--& unless the monthly flow xan be brought on she may perish from some disease of the heart or lungs. The dr. says that he has a good hope that Letty may recover at the Peak Plantation & the woman Peg at the Hunt Place is recovering slowly."
