PC to DC July 1846: "...Abner is out to day for a supply of chickens and ducks and I hope he will be able to obtain you a good supply."
PC to Sisters (Miss MBC) 2 December 1847: "we have but little indispositions in the family of blacks -- the young man 'Abner' at Stagville is contrary to my expectation recovering from a dangerous illness. The general health of the family will I think be soon established should we be so fortunate as to excape those winter diseased that so often follow autumnal diseases."
