"remember me ...to all my colard friends my Brothers and ant and ther children Sip and Philip old Ben Parks Ben umstard Daniel watson and his family henry dixson David Bell and undl Luk and all the Black family all so remember me to charety [walker?] old Patty york and grace and her family and write me who you have sent to the South remember me to E till John Ray and all my old nabors... remember me to ovid and his family all so [Dats?] and Dandridg"
PC to Sisters 2 June 1865: "I am glad to hear Annie (Davis) is still with you. I hope you may not be deprived of her services -- We have been without a female servant, but a fay or two ago, Uncle Ovid from Stagville came up & brought his family & Mima -- He is the only one that has expressed any wish to come to us at all."
Pied Plant. p. 112 --Ovid was an Umstead slave puchased by TDB in 1831 -- the 1870 census lists him as Ovid Jurdon aged 65 and black, although his wife and children were mulattoes.
And. Blacks p. 176 - Ovid Jordan recieved wages June 1 1865- October 1866 Judy Violet Edney William Easter (Esther) ? Winter ? Emma ? Dicey ? Edward (Egbert)? Abner ?[Stagvillebackup1.FTW]
